Categorized Contact List is different when clicking on email TO ic

I'm using OL 2007 and Vista Ultimate. I imported my OL 2002 Contact List
from my XP Pro PC. Went fine. I then updated and organized the OL 2007
Contact List by catagory and it views fine. However, when I go to send an
email to a contact and hit the email TO icon to bring up my catagorized
contact list, it brings up a non-catagorized list, sorted alphabetically by
first name. All the Susans and Johns grouped together. Not very useful.

How to I get OL 2007 to bring up my catagorized Contact List when I hit the
TO button? BTW, I don't want to perform a search to find the email contact.
For me, my catagorized Contact List does the job.

YOu have found one of the side-effects of importing a .pst file - NEVER do this. Simply copy your .pst file to the new computer and open it using File->Open->Outlook Data file from Outlook.

Milly:
Thanks for your answer. I kind of wondered if importing a 2002 Outlook pst
file into Outlook 2007 would be a problem. Now that I've spent several hours
updating and categorizing my new Contact list, is there any work around to
get categorized Contacts to show up when I hit the "TO:" icon in a new email?
BTW, an MVP said the email address book doesn't support categories. Is that
correct? If true, can the address book sort be set to key on the Last Name
label and not the First Name label?

Thanks,
Dave

The Address Book has no separate existence. It is a virtual view of all of your contacts with valid electronic addresses (email and fax). So the answer is that the Address Book supports nothing. Everything you need to do for categorizing should be done in the Contacts folder.

To set the address book sorting, go to Tools->Email Accounts->Directories... ->View or Change. Set your sort order from there. Close and restart Outlook.

To send to a category, simply display your contacts folder in a by category view, select the category, click and drag to your in-box and your email to that category is automagically created. Fill in the subject and message and send. Voila!
