Category meaning in issues and risks

Hello everyone!!
I'm trying to figure out the definition of the predefined values in the
category field on both the issues and risks forms in Project Server 2007.
Does anyone know what the 1, 2, and 3 stand for? Does 1 mean low, 2 medium
and 3 high? Or is the category field user definable? Any help on this would
be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Yes the Category field is customisable, either for each project (edit the
site) or for all new project sites by editing the site template. Search the
web for instructions on editing the site template.

Thanks Rod for responding. Since the category field is customizable, does
that mean that the values assigned (1, 2, and 3) are open to interpretation
and Microsoft has no set definition???

They are simply text placeholders, you can replace them with any text you
want. Note, you can add extra options to the status field, but don't delete
or rename the default values as that can cause problems.

Oh that's good to know. Thanks for pointing that out. By the way, do you know
what those default values mean???

They mean nothing, they are just placeholders.
