If I set up a category and include a User Group in that category, why do I
need to assign the user to the category if I already set up the category to
the user group?

Joe --

When you create a Category, you must include the Groups that have access to
the objects specified in the category (projects, resources, views, and
models). When you include each Group, you must also specify the permissions
found in the Permissions grid for each Group. The users in each Group
inherit the permissions, therefore, you do not need to set any other
permissions settings for individual users except as an exception to the
Group's permissions. Hope this helps.
