Each time I try and burn these files to CD windows reports:
the file O2KSR1aDL has extra info attached that might b lost.... or
windows encounterd a problem when try to copy this file .....
both do not have read only
Is there a special way to burn them ?

Hi, ias,

No. You should provide the original CDs when prompted to insert a CD for
updating Office.

When you update office 2000, these are the files the installer d/ls and
updates the office system.
I want to burn them to CD and use to update other machines.
But they report the error messages I posted when I try and putr them to CD

Right--but: I believe you are talking about a mix of update files and
original installation files.

You cannot burn the data1 or installation files to CD successfully, as far
as I'm aware. If you want to burn the update files to CD, use the full file
patch downloads which are less likely to require you to provide the original
installation media (such as data1.msi). But you will need to provide
original CDs or original installation media that was used to install the
software, if the update requires it. The copying of installation files
doesn't work.

There is no reason I'm aware of that o2ksr1adl.exe would not burn to a CD.
Are you using the download manager, or are you extracting the file after
download? What happens if you try one at a time? Have you tried the
technique on a different system?

See if these articles provide more information about the requirement for
original installation media:

Why service packs, updates, and security patches may require the Office 2000
CD-ROM:

Full-file version update may request Office source files

many thanks for your response.
The files were d/l using RMB "save as"
I just thought that I needed both O2KSR1aDL AND data1.
Still for some reason cannot burn O2KSR1aDL to CD, and cannot try another
machine for now.
I have the original CD for office so I will persist with just the O2KSR1aDL
thanks

Full file patches are larger because they have information in them that may
not require them to ask for the original installation media. They usually
have the words "fulll file" in the filename somewhere. These don't always
work with Office 2K, though; the technology was introduced mid-version.
