CD Key

I bought a new Mac, and want to move the Microsoft Office X programs
from my older Mac to the new one, but can't find the CD Key info. Is
there some way to find that information on the old computer? ..
Thanks.

No; but if you registered your software with Microsoft, customer support can
help you.

If your software was not registered, or if it was registered in someone
else's name, you're probably out of luck.

Yes, there is. You will find all of the data in

Users/[youraccount]/Library/Preferences

You need to transfer the following files:

com.microsoft.notifications.plist
com.microsoft.Word.plist
OfficeSync Prefs
Microsoft folder (contains all other preferences)

I also copied over the Microsoft Office X folder and the MS User Data Folder
using a 640 MB MO drive, but burning it to CD would work as well. I did not
use the app folder from the Official Installer CD: this will just send you
through a first run, and the process won't work.

At least, this worked for me, and I moved the app from a networked eMac to a
desktop iMac G3 and a G4 TiBook, neither of which are networked.

This was for a Japanese language Office v.X, but I've heard the same works
for the English language version.

Cheers,
