CD-Key

Hi! I recently have had trouble with my computer. All in
all I had to restore my system using the restore disks.
However, one of the programming disks that I have,
Microsoft Office 2000 Professional, has to be installed
from the CD's themselves. This program which came with my
CD is asking for a CD-Key that it states should be with
my CD Jewel Case. This is not so. The CD's came in a
plastic sleeve with a sony label on it with no key. Mind
you that this came preinstalled. I now can not install
this programming without this key. I am sure I am not the
only one that has had this problem. Is there a way to
obtain the CD-Key that goes with these CD's? I called
Sony and the tech support could not help and suggested I
contact Microsoft. Please Help!!!!!

Hi Justin,

As others have pointed out, you should first contact the manufacturer
who installed Office. Since you are using Office 2000 they should be
able to provide you with a key. (I know with Office XP some of the
manufacturer's are a little less-willing to co-operate)

If they will not provide you with a replacement key then contact
Microsoft and explain the situation to them. It is my understanding
they will generate a new key however you could incur a nominal fee for
this service.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
