Cell colors and gridlines won't print!

T

Theresa Mesa

I'm updated to 10.5.5 running on OS 10.3.4 (or is it 10.3.5? Had the
problem before the latest update, too).

When I print a spreadsheet to which I've applied color to the cells, and to
which I've enabled gridline printing, the colors and gridlines will not print.
I've even previewed it, and there is no color there.

I've triple-checked that "print gridlines" is checked. I've made sure that my
printer is printing standard (color), instead of the B&W setting.

My printer is an Epson C84 and prints fine for every other application on my
computer except Excel. Any thoughts?

Hi Theresa,

Although the behavior your are describing is not what you were expecting,
that is the way Excel has worked for as long as I can remember.

If you color the cells then you need to give them borders. There are several
ways to do this (format> Cells, Formatting Palette, toolbar).

I know that seems odd. You can send a feature suggestion to Microsoft
requesting that if you color cells and tell Excel to print gridlines that
the grid lines ought to print. Use the feedback option on the Excel help
menu to tell Microsoft of your suggestion.
