cell protection

i wish to protect an entire tab within a worksheet and
then un-protect a range within the tab (user data entry
range as users keep typing where there not supposed to)

Select the range you want to unprotect. From the menu
select Format then Cells, click the Protection tab,
deselect the Locked check box, click OK. Now from the
menu select Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet, enter a
password.
