Cell references with Turkish Regional Settings

Hello all
Using the English version of Visio 2003 you can reference in code and in the
ShapeSheet a connections cell by it's name e.g. "Connections.X1". However, if
the Windows Control Panel Regional Settings is changed to Turkish, such cell
names are not recognised and result in a "Unexpected end of file" error in VB
or "Error in Formula" when trying to enter this cell reference interactively
in the ShapeSheet.

If a formula containing "Connections.X1" is entered with English Regional
Settings and the Visio document is saved and then opened with Turkish
regional settings, the formula is displayed in the ShapeSheet as
"Connections.X1" but you can't enter a new formula containing
"Connections.X1".

The same problem occurs if the connections row is named.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
Many thanks

Would you try to use CellsSRC ptoperty? It does not use the section name
but use section index, row index, and collum index.

Hello JuneTheSecond

Many thanks for the reply, but unfortunately I need to use "Connections.X1"
etc in formulae in other ShapeSheet cells.

Best regards

I am sorry that i thought it as a matter of programinng.
Now i think your matter would be an item on shape sheet.
There might be an error in the displayed name.
You can check the real name of the cell by the next steps.
Use real name, if there is a difference.
1. Open shape sheet of a shape.
2. Put mouse cursol on the text edit line with "X" and check mark on top of
the visio window.
3. Click the "Connections.X1" cell.
4. At the top edit line you can see the real name of this cell was added.
5. Select and cut this text, and use to make your new formula.

Hello JuneTheSecond
Many thanks, I've tried that but the cell name is displayed as
"Connections.X1" in the edit box and when it's copied into a formula Visio
responds with "Error in Formula"
I had thought it might be something to do with the decimal symbol, digit
grouping symbol or list separator in the Windows Control Panel Regional
Settings. But after customising the English (United Kingdom) settings to
those used for Turkish, Visio still works fine. It's only when the Turkish
Regional Settings option is applied and Visio is restarted that it hits this
problem.

Hello all
I've just been told that Microsoft have accepted that this is a bug in Visio
2003. Hopefully it will be fixed in Visio 2007 but, unfortunately at this
stage there are no assurances that it will be. In the meantime users will
either have to use another regional setting or an earlier version, eg Visio 5
or 2002.
Best regards
