Cell size changed and won't calculate

I was working on a couple of spreadsheets I created and the cell width increased on all cells to 2-3/ per page making it impossible to work with. At the same time cells with formulas that were previously entered and had calculated now just showed the formulas. Only one of the cells showed an alert and it said referred to empty cells. These cells weren't and hadn't been empty but now the numbers were on the left side as if they would not recognize the data as numbers, but rather than text. A spreadsheet that I opened that I had received by email worked fine. Any suggestions?

Go to Excel> Preferences> View & remove the check on Show Formulas.

Hi Bob: THat worked fine. I was surprised because the cells also shrunk and I hadn't checked that before. On a new document, I had filled some sums to the right and the values went not the properly calculated formulas. Then after I switched to another document, it corrected the calculations itself. I am not sure if there are any problems with the program, but thus far I was able to correct the original problem. Thanks,

Yeah, sometimes the gremlins get restless & can't decide what else to do so
they mess with preference files :) I don't believe it's anything to be
concerned about unless it becomes repetitive or other issues arise.

Glad it was something that simple! And thanks for confirming.
