Cells Formatted as Text

M

MichaelQ

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a work sheet that contains over 10,000 rows and some columns of numbers contain numbers formatted as text. If I select the column and format as text it does not alter the text cells. I find I have to manually change each cell.
How can I search for a cell formatted as text?
or
How can I format the column to numbers?

If the numbers are actually values [not zip codes or something similar]:

Type the number 1 into a cell,
Copy that cell,
Select the column of figures,
Go to Edit> Paste Special & select the Multiply option,
Click OK

That will convert those formatted as Text back to values but will have no
impact on any of those which are already formatted properly.
