Cells in Word Table

L

Libby

Thanks for all you help on my last question but I didn't ask it right. What
I need to do is to have a cell and only allow a certain number of spaces in
it then the cell would freeze typing. Not word wrap, not expand the cell,
just freeze until they tab to the next field:

Example: if I have a cell which I only want them to be able to type 4
characters they would not be able to type the word "today". they could only
type "toda" then it would freeze.

Can this be done?

If you have inserted a form field in the table cell, you can limit the
number of characters that can be entered. Alternatively, in an ordinary
table, if you set the row height and column width to an exact amount, you
can limit the physical area of the text that can be entered, though not the
exact number of characters.
