CELLS linked to another workbook, cannot edit - HELP!!

I am simply referecing a CELL in different WORKBOOK, then
I copy the CELL after the link is established to another
cell within the same worksheet and edit it to refernce a
different column.
..
This is where my problem starts.
..
At this poing the CELL no longer updates, and when I use
the evaluate formula function, it says it contains
contstants! - Then I look at it with MS Script editor and
it is a totally different entry!!
..
What am I doin wrong? Am I asking for too much?

Dean, I believe that if you try and COPY the cell which is
being linked (say A1 to A2), then the link will still try
to reference the original cell (A1). Have you tried cut &
paste, and then changing the reference?
