Cells with unique data (Excel 2007)

In Col A, all 1 million+ cells contain data which may occur once or
multiple times.

I need a list of the cells containing unique data -- the cells
containing the same data are NOT in the resulting list -- so I'm using
data>advanced filter with the "unique" box ticked.

When I click OK, it takes a long time for Excel to finish processing.

Is there a way to speed up the process?
