How do i format a cell to display the values in cents?

Rick use a custom number format of with the ¢ character. To enter
this character, hold down the ALT key and type 0162 on the
numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard (not the numbers
above the letters).

Type a number into the cell, then
<Format> <Cells>
Click on "Custom" in the "Category" window.

Choose a desired format from the right window, which you will see an example
of in the "Sample" box.
Now, click in the "Type" window to place the edit marker where you would
like the cent sign to appear.
It should properly be *after* the number.
Then, <Alt> +0162 *from the num keypad*, not the numbers under the function
keys, then <OK>.

How do i format a cell to display the values in cents?

I suppose that what you want is the cent sign as you indicate in the title.
I was reminded recently that it is a good idea to indicate which vintage of
Excel you are using. I only have 97 and 02 available and Insert Symbol is
not available in 97. The cent sign is ALT+0162. One way to find the codes
for symbols in some older versions of Excel is to use Insert symbol in the
same version of Word. For later versions, you can also set up an autocorrect
to get frequently used symbols both in Word and Excel. For my own use, I
have degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius(Centigrade) and cent.

I thought that was what I had implied! However, it shows that attempting to
avoid a fight is sometimes a bad idea (g).
