Centering of the Document when word opens

Is there any way I can have word open a new document in the center of my screen by default instead of the far left? In other words, every time I open word, by default the document appears on the left hand screen but I would prefer it centered instead. I have tried messing around with the Normal.dotm file but it doesn't seem to remember this change.

It is supposed to open each document exactly the same place and size as you
closed it. It should create a new document at the same size and place as
your Normal.dotm was last saved.

There is a bug in 2008 that is preventing that working in OS 10.5. It's
part of the Spaces bug. Office 2008 is not compatible with Spaces.

The Service Release next week should cure this (although it may not cure the
whole scenario).

Cheers

Was this service included in the most recent update (12.0.1)? I'm still encountering the same issue.

Well, it seems to be a little better but still not precise. I think there is
still some lag in help from Apple in bolstering the window position control.

How can it be a little better? It either works or doesn't work. Even after the release of SP1, it still does not work. How could they miss this?

They didn't miss it. As with all bugs, they gave it a "priority" depending
on how badly it affects users' ability to do their work.

Bugs that cause loss of data, or prevent users using the software at all, or
which are easy to fix, get fixed first. Bugs that are merely irritating,
for which there is a known work-around, or which require extensive work, get
fixed last.

In this case, there are several of these, caused by the interaction between
Word and Spaces. They are partly Microsoft bugs and partly Apple bugs.

I believe that most of the Microsoft ones were fixed in SP1. I don't think
the Apple ones have been addressed yet. And some of them are still waiting.

Hope this helps
