Centering text in a text box

Is there an easy way to center text vertically in a text box?

With a table, one can vertically center text in a cell with the alignment
button. With a text box, the only way I have found is to adjust the space
before in the format paragraph menu.

It should be possible to place a cell inside a text box but this might open
up new problems.

Thanks in advance....Tony

You've hit on the only way to do it in current versions. Insert a
single-cell borderless table and drag it to the size of the text box. There
will be an empty text paragraph below the table that will overflow the text
box, but just ignore it.

Thanks Suzanne. I hope Microsoft includes this feature in the next release.

Because I use PowerPoint so often I found it strange that Word had no
automatic means to vertically center text since this is a feature in
PowerPoint. I tried pasting a PowerPoint vertically centered text box in
Word but I lost the vertical alignment.

Thanks again...Tony

Yes, Publisher also includes this feature. I agree that it's odd that Word
doesn't.
