Centralizing text in Merged Cell

Hi all.

I was wondering if someone would be able to help me with a wee proble
that i am having regarding a rota that i have created for work.

In Column B, I have merged every two rows. What I would like to happe
is, when i input a number, i would like that number to be represente
in the centre of the merged cells. I inputted a number and then clicke
on Central align and although the text was aligned to the centre, i
was aligned to the bottom centre of the cell, not the middle centre.

Is it possible to align text to the middle of a merged cell?

It centered nicely for me in xl2002.

Are you sure you set the Vertical alignment?
