I am trying to install the free trial (60 days) offer of Microsoft Office and
the Certificate of Authenticity number attached to my laptop is not
recognised. Any suggestions?

That number is probably for Windows, not Office. Look at your CDs. Someone
told me recently that its on the Works disk envelope.

The COA on your laptop has nothing to do with Office. It is for Windows XP.
Use the key that MS sent you with your trial version of Office.

You normally get this by email from Microsoft when you download the
product or it should be with the CD if you ordered it by post.
