Certificate of Authenticity

I recently had to purchase a new computer system. I had a
gateway system with windows 98. I just purchased a HP
system with the same. Once i went through the setup of
the computer, i noticed there was no microsoft word,
excel, or anything like that. I kept my software from the
previous system, but when attempting to download it asked
for a certificate of authenticity. Which you already know
was a series of numbers. I no longer have the boxes or
covers those discs came in, so my question is, I guess, is
it possible to obtain this information anywhere?
