CGM-files & Office 2007

Hi there!

I found this KB: http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/290362

It´s about the limitations of graphics import filters in Word 2003 and in
Word 2002. I am mostly interested in the section regarding the Computer
Graphics Metafile, which is a file type that requires a separately installed
graphics filter.

In that section it says: "This filter has the following limitation: CGM 1992
Versions 2, 3, and 4 are not supported."

Anyone know if this still is the case for Office 2007?

Hi Andreas,

As I understand it, for Office 2007 the CGM filter has a new version number, having been reviewed for this release, but the
capabilities are not changed.

Generally the older filters, such as CGM are maintained but not updated as far as capabilities (a number of the older filters were
written by 3rd parties who are no longer around) as there isn't a high level of requests for those formats. MS Office Visio has
had, in the past, more specific filter updates.
