ch show on ruler

In the paragraph dialog box, the measurement for indentation shows at ch,
therefore the ruler measurements are in ch.

Tools - Options shows the measurement to be in inches.

Any other ideas as to what this means and how it can be changed so the ruler
will be displayed in inches.
