Challenge : how to change default Excel comment font

I've been spending some time trying to change the default
font for comments in Excel 2000 sheets. Eventually I found
that this could be done by changing the tooltip properties
within windows-settings-control panel-display-appearance-
item. But there is something strange : you can only change
the font size, even if you change the font name, it would
still be Tahoma.
Also there are side effects, as this property impacts
display in status bars.
Anyone fought successfully with this issue yet ?
