There's no setting to have them inserted that way - as you've apparently
discovered the only options are Above or Below.
Once inserted, however, they can be treated as any other text content,
although you may have to apply Text Wrapping to the picture in order to get
the placement you want... Cut/paste, drag 'n' drop, as long as you have a
text line where you want to put them. If the image is set to In Line with
Text it may be more limiting - the caption & the picture will be set on the
same baseline (although adjustments can also be made in
Format>Font>Character Spacing - Position.)
Alternatively, I believe you can manually insert the SEQ fields & caption
content if you wish, but you'll still have to deal with the same type of
adjustments. I've never done it this way, though, on the few occasions where
I've wanted captions beside the object.
