Change active cell border

I can't believe I'm stumped on this, but I can't find it in Preferences or Help: how do i change the border of the active cell in Excel 2008 (that is, the selected cell or range)? I can hardly see which cell I'm on with the default "light blue on white background" dotted line, and want to change it to something like a thick solid line (as I had in Excel for the PC). Thanks for any help.

You need to do this in the system preferences- appearance. After you change
the values you will need to quit and restart Excel.

I am new at the Mac software game (call me a Windows Rat)and this same issue was driving me crazy with the new Excel 2008 for Mac I just installed. I now realized that Mac OS actually has full control of system settings in the applications. Thanks for your excellent help (lots better than Microsoft Help).

Thanks for saving my eyesight and my sanity, especially when working with the 13 inch screen of my MacBook.
