change animation series in chart

I have added animation to a chart, however I want to change the sequence of
the animation. I have tried to drag the series order in the Custom Animation
tool bar, but I get the circle with the slash through it, and the order will
not change.
The chart has to Y categories. Left side is numbers, right side are dates.
The animation is showing the number series first, then the series with dates.
I need to have the animation in an order that I choose for presentation
clarity.
Any ideas
