Change Column Headings on Sub-form

I have a form with a sub-form in datasheet view. The column headings for
the sub-form are equal to the control names on the sub-form (OTHER tab).

I would like to do one of two things - either change the column headings to
more desirable text or eliminate the sub-form column headings entirely.

I have tried to change CAPTION fields in both forms and underlying tables
without success.
1. how can I change column headings without changing the control names?
2. How can I make sub-form column headings invisible?

Change the caption of the label that is attached to the controls. That will
change the name of the column heading in datasheet view without changing the
name of the control itself.
