Change ContactItem owner in a Public Folder?

I need a way to change the "owner" of a ContactItem in a
Public Folder.

I have set up a public folder for contacts, with
default "Author" permissions so users can add, edit, and
delete only their contacts. But some users want their
assistants to add contacts for them, but in such a way
that they will be able to edit or delete them later.
Also, some contacts may change owner if a user takes over
contacts from another user.

I've looked for an "owner" property for the ContactItem
but have not found anything of the sort. But Outlook or
Exchange must keep track of it so that it knows who can
edit or delete the contact. Can I modify this property?
