Change default Word template

I am using Word 2007. I want to change the font and a few other things for
the template that is behind the new "blank" document. How do I do that?

follow this article but to get to the necessary dialog boxes is somewhat
different

to get to the font dialog in the Font section of the Home Tab in the area
that says Font there is an embossed diamond shape on the right click on that
and it will open the dialog this will work for some of the others as well...
