Change Deployment structure

Dear all I have to start a change on the project server 2007 / WSS 3.0
structure:
Now we have a english installation of project server 2007 / WSS 3.0 as farm
with only a server that is doing every role (search, application, db) the it
manager is asking to migrate to a new installation localized (italian) in
another server using the actual db of project 2007 and wss 3.0.
Before was:
Server 1 --> Application
--> Search
--> DB
After will be:
Server 1 --> DB
Server 2 --> Application
--> Search

Just to say everything, the domain will be the same, each server is a 2003
enterprise R2, the dbms is a sql server 2005 standard installation with sp1.

Sincerely i tried to found white papers for this procedure but nothing is
available at the moment, anyway I have to fix do this request asap.
Thanks all.
Matteo

I don't know about moving the db across servers with different languages,
however you can change the structure by completing a new install in the new
layout, then simply restoring the old databases across the new.

I don't know about moving the db across server which different languages
however you can easily change the structure by completing a clean install in
the desired layout, then restoring the old db's over the new.

the new ones?

It is fairly straightforward to restore projectserver databases into a
new environment but restoring the various sharepoint databases are
less obvious. I tried to follow this kb article on sharepoint
migration:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/windo...203-4d47-bf9f-239bb6647aa61033.mspx?mfr=true+

It basically involves a new install of sharepoint (and
projectserver). I kept the newly installed content databases and
restored the migrated databases to a different name. I then used the
stsadmin command to add the restored content databases. This works
fine except each new content database is shown to have 0 sites
(Application Mgt | Content databases). If you look into these
databases there is data for sites defined. So no result. I suspect
the problem sits with the SSP setup which is not addressed in the
article. Input on this from anyone else would be appreciated.

The backed-up projectserver databases overwrite the newly installed
db's. You then need to reset some application settings and reset
sharepoint details.

regards

Mike
