Change End date without change duration.

Is it possible to change always End date of a task without change duration?

Thanks.

In VBA, changes made using VBA cause recalculations exactly as if they were
done manually. So if you force an end date, the duration remains the same
and the start date gets recalculated. Note that forcing dates is
counter-productive as Project can no longer calculate them for you and you
have to manually maintain them from now on.

When I change end date sometimes start date is recalculated and duration is
is not changed. and sometimes start date is not changed and duration is
recalculated.
I don't what I can do to have always the first instance : start date
recalculated and duration not changed.

Jean-Claude,

If the task had not any date constraint, when you force an end date, you
introduce a Finish Not Later than constraint and the Duration doesn't
change.
If the task already had a Start Not Earlier Than constraint, when you force
an end date, you introduce a Finish Not Later than constraint and the
Duration *change*.
Anyway, has Rod stated, forcing dates is counter-productive as Project can
no longer calculate them for you and you have to manually maintain them from
now on.

Hope this helps,

Jean-Claude,
What Rod said is true for tasks that have not started (i.e. no
progress). However, if the task has started, changing the end date will
have no effect the start date because it is fixed. If you are unsure
which tasks have started, look at the Actual Start date field. If the
task has started there will be a date entry, otherwise the field will
show "NA".

By the way, I agree with Rod. Manually changing dates in Project totally
defeats the reason for using Project, unless of course you are
re-planning a schedule, but even then, new Duration estimates and/or
links should make up the bulk of re-plan actions.
