Change format of check boxes

I created a form in Word 2007 using tables. One section of the form is a grid
with a check box in each cell. Is there a way to remove the border around the
check box? Right now the form looks a bit cluttered because of the "double
border" in each cell.

Thanks in advance.

No, I need to keep the grid look. The form was originally created using
Omniform and it was my job to convert it to a Word Template. In Omniform you
have the option to remove the border around a check box, so I wanted to see
if I would be able to do that in Word as well.

If you don't have a border around a check box, then how is it a box?

Select all of the cells containing checkboxes. In word 2007, choose the
Design ribbon of Table tools, drop down the Borders dialog and click Borders
and shading (Last item on the drop-down).
In earlier versions, Format, Borders and Shading.
In all versions, select Cell in the Apply to field, then click None. Or you
can specify partial borders by clicking appropriate edges in the diagram.
