Change from MS Office Student to Professional

I have been running Office Student /Teacher for about a year. I have recently
obtained Office Professional to take advantage of Publisher & Access. I know
the items in Student Teacher are pretty much the same as the Standard Edition.

Basic question? Should I uninstall Student /Teacher and then install
Professional? Also, any cautions about protecting files created in Student
/Teacher so they are sure to be available?

Uninstall the STE (after backing up your important files, of course). My
reasoning is that Office STE is not upgradeable and Pro is.
