Change in appearance of 'From' name in Outlook messages

Today, I noticed that a grey circle is now displayed to the left of the
'From' name in all my Outlook messages. I did not do anything actively and I
am not aware of any MS updates occurring.

Does anyone know what this is? I worry that someone has hacked into my
computer.

I don't have MSN messenger installed so I am still baffled that this feature
was enabled unbeknownst to me. My security settings were also changed
unbeknownst to me. I noticed that concurrent with the mysterious 'grey
circle', I couldn't download pictures from trusted sites. I didn't have a
problem with attachments as the other user reported. I reset the settings to
block automatic downloading of pictures in HTML text but unchecked the two
boxes beneath it.
