Change in font when copy/paste

Hi,

I sure hope someone can help me with this. When I am writing an email and I paste something into it (for example, that I copied from a website or some other source), the text will paste into the email exactly as it appeared on that other source. This is okay--I don't mind that. But after I do the paste, I then want to continue writing my email. But from this point on, everything I try to type will be in the same font (same size, color, etc) as whatever it was that I just pasted into the email.

Is there some way for me to just paste something into an email, and then continue writing in the original font/color/size that I started typing the email with? It's bothersome to have to go up to the font drop-down window because when I click it, I have to wait about 45 seconds for all of the fonts to load, then I have to scroll all the way down to "Verdana", then pick the size, then turn off "bold", etc, etc, etc....

There's got to be an easier way to do this, right?

Thank you!

(This is my first post here, so I'm not sure if my system info appears or not, but I'm using Leopard on a new MacBook Pro, and Entourage 2004 for Mac).

Easiest solution which I use is to hit <return> once or twice so you leave a space which still has the hidden control character for the font you want to use. Then you paste the excerpt you wish to include. Use the cursor key to go to the start of the line with your old font. Begin to type there - You can join the paragraphs after, if you want. If you want to add some passage to a paragraph in your font write "whatever" leave a space (few clicks of the space bar) then "more whatever", and paste the passage between the "whatever(s)."

Here's what I do: I put a couple of carriage returns in the message, then
insert the new material before the last of the returns. Move the cursor past
the last return, and the format is as you left it.

I'm sure Jolly Roger would suggest using plain text instead of HTML format,
which would eliminate the problem altogether.

P.S. I suppose that calling a Return a "carriage return" shows my age! :)
