Change Language

I am in Japan using a Japanese 2003 Office operating system. I cannot figure
out how to change the interface to English. Any step by step advice on which
buttons to push at what point? I have minimal kanji reading ability so just
need walk through to change it.

Microsoft Office is produced in specific language versions.
If you need an English user interface, you'll need to purchase
and install an English version of Microsoft office.

You probably can't. The only way you can change it is if you have a
multi-language installation of Office 2003. If you are running this
Office just on your private PC, then you probably don't have such a
setup. In a corporate or university environment, you might have such a
setup. In those cases, check with your network administrator.

Hi Lizbeth,

If it's Office 2003 (rather than the Windows operating system) that's in Japanese then the Japanese localized edition is one of nine
localized ones that includes an optional English language menu interface capability in the retail product.

I'm not able to tell you what the Japanese equivalent would be to make the switch, but in an English language one the approach would
be to use
Start=>All Programs=>Microsoft Office=>Microsoft Office Tools
and then select the Microsoft Office 2003 Application Language Settings tool to choose the English language help/menu interface.

Interesting. Just out of curiosity, what are the other eight?

Hi Bob,

The localized versions that have a "limited" menu language changing ability are listed int he 'Disadvantages to installing a
localized version of Office' topic of this Office 2003 Resource Kit section:
