K

K. Cortese

In the custom chart - line - column on 2 axes my computer is defulting to 3
columns and 3 lines. What I need is 5 columns and one line. Can someone
suggest how to change this?

Thanks!

Cortese,

Select the 4th series, right click>Chart Type...> and choose colum
type as "Column".

This will by default be plotted on the secondary axis (like you
lines).

Right click>Format Data Series>Axis>Choose axis=Primary.

Repeat for series 5 to get the effect you want.

Hope this helps.

As I just wrote to Nikki (funny that I pegged your 5-1 series split):

Excel simply splits the number of series between the lines and columns. If you want
to control the chart's appearance, ignore the built in custom types, and make your
own. Start by making a line or column chart, whichever is more prevalent in the
final chart. Say you want five series as columns and one as a line, plot all six
series in a column chart. Select just the series you want to change to a line, and
use Chart Type on the Chart menu to change it. If you need some series on the
secondary axis, double click the series, and on the Axis tab, select Secondary.
