Does anybody know how to change the margins display in excel from
inches to mm. There used to be an option within preferences but I
cannot see it anymore.

Thanks Tony

As it often does, Escel take its settings from the Mac OS preferences. You
don't mention which versions of OS/Excel you are running. So this is how it
goes on the OS X versions:

In the System preference panels, open the "International" Pane.

In the "Number" tab, set it to "Metric".

Next time you'll launch Excel, the settings should be in mm.

In case this should not function in your case, or not match your needs, post
back...

Bernard,

Thanks for your message. I run Mac OSX and did exactly as you
suggested. However when I got to the Number pane in International
there was no option for Metric v Imperial. Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Tony

You may choose between Standard and Metric (International English)
The terms depend on your language and other settings.

Jan,

Thanks but still no closer to a solution. Tried all manner of
different settings (even changed language to French and German) but
none gave me an option to change from imperial to metric. Anybody else
have any ideas?

Thanks

Which version of Mac OS X are you running ? There might be
some differences in the Pref Panes. I'm running Jaguar (OS
X 10.2.8). By the way, as mentioned it's not "Imperial"
but "Standard" that should appear on the US Pref Pane, but
you would have found out :)

Bernard,

I'm running OSX 10.1.3, which probably accounts for the difference in
the panes. I'll check it out at my nearest Apple store and if this is
the difference I guess I'll have to upgrade. Thanks for your help.

Gents,

I have exactly the same problem. I am running OSX 10.3.1, and I have
applied all updates to OfficeX up to 10.1.5. I have set Metric in my
System Preferences, but I still get inches in the Page Setup for the
margins.
Has anybody more suggestions ?

Thanks

Frank

XL gets it's settings when it starts up. Close and reopen XL and it
will use the system settings.
