Change mouse for left-handers

My new MS Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 presents a problem for lefthanders: the
magnifier button is on the left, where my other fingers rest, and I keep
turning it on by accident. It was clearly designed for righthanders, who
would have to move their thumbs deliberately to turn it on. I'd like to turn
it off altogether. as I don't need it, but I can't find any instructions for
doing that. Any suggestions?
