Change "My Data Sources"

Matthew

I have Office 2003.

I have a folder I use for mail merges other than "My Data Sources". Can I
change the folder Word lookes in for mail merge data from "My Data Sources"
to another one?

You can't change the default folder without hacking the registry, but you
can look in any folder for your data and the simplest solution is to add a
shortcut on your places bar.

For the registry hack, locate
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\DataServices
You can change the location here, but it must be to a sub folder of My
Documents or the results are unpredictable. For a sub folder called - say -
Test, enter Test in place of My Data Services. Full path entries do not
appear to work correctly.

Oops - that last para should have read My Data Sources - not Services - but
you knew that :)
