We usually Label our Captions using the Chapter Heading so that the captions
are numbered by section, (Figure 1-1, Figure 1-2, etc. However there is
another template that requires the captions to be numbered sequentially
(Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.) without the chapter headings.
Is there a way to do this so that when text and images are copied from one
document to the other, the captions and cross-references are correctly
formatted?
The only thing I can think of is to search for "STYLEREF 1 \s" and manually
delete those fields. Is there a code I can use to find the bracket in a
field?
The other option is to re-enter the captions and the cross references, which
is very cumbersome.
