change of license number for Office

My non-tech friend bought a business edition of Office 2007, then realized
that was not what she wanted. She returned it and deinstalled all the
software except for Word 2007 which is what she only needed.

Now, how do I "upgrade" her to the new software license that comes with the
upgrade package that she bought. She is very concerned that her software is
legal.

I can't upgrade her from Word 2007 to Word 2007, can I?

Thanks,
julie

Please, this is a little old 78 year old woman who didn't know what she was
doing. I was out of the country so she didn't call me or anyone else to
help her.

What "upgrade" package did she buy? Just Word 2007 as a stand alone?
Did she buy the upgrade or the full version?

I suspect that she'll need to finish uninstalling Office, including
Word. If she bought the full version of Word 2007, she can then just
install it. If she bought the upgrade version, I'm guessing that it
follows the same upgrade validation routine that the full Office suite
uses, in which case, if she doesn't have another qualifying product on
her computer, she should install Word without entering the product
key. Once that is done, she should install Word again, this time
entering the product key. Word will validate itself as the upgrade
qualifying product.
