Change Picture... with Adobe Illustrator pdf leaves blank frame

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When replacing a Adobe Illustrator generated pdf using the "Change Picture..." command only a empty frame is generated, even though dragging from the Finder works fine.

This occurs even when trying to replace with exactly the same file.

Thanks

Hi Paul -

I'm afraid I'm not seeing that happen here. I just created an Adobe PDF in
Illy CS3 (13.0.2) using default settings, inserted it into a new Word doc
(12.1.2), then used the Change Picture command to replace it with a
completely different JPEG. All worked as expected.

Unfortunately there are literally dozens of potential variables, so without
complete version details (Office & OS X), PDF save settings, method
involved, what you're replacing it with [that's the most important], etc.
it's almost impossible to troubleshoot. If you can track down & supply all
pertinent facts I'll try to help figure it out.

Like I said, what you're inserting in place of the PDF is the most important
factor. The original image [of whatever type] is essentially removed & the
new one inserted in its place, so what *was* there shouldn't really make
much difference. It isn't like some apps where the "formatted frame" is
retained & just the image in it is replaced.

What happens if you just separately use Insert> Picture> From File to put
the second image somewhere else in the same doc? In a new blank doc?
