change program open

when the popup asked which program to use to open a .wks
file in error i selected .wps instead of .xls. how do i
change the default that opens any ".wks" file from ".wpd"
to ".xls"? how do i change this?

Open Windows Explorer.

Find and select a *.wks file.

Hold SHIFT key and right-click. Select "Open with" and "Always use etc"

Excel will not open *.wks files in any case, so you are chasing something not
attainable.

Save the *.wks file while in MS Works as an Excel file.
