We have a document system that allow us to import RTF files into our
record system. However we have recently discovered that RTF files
created with Word 2007 do not import, they are getting kicked back
out. After some research and working with the vendor I have found out
the office 2007 uses a newer version (1.9) of the RTF standard that
contains allot of extra info and formatting. Our system does not know
what to do with this so it kicks it back out. It worked fine with the
Word 2003 version (1.8)
My questions:
(Preferable)
Is there a way to make Word 2007 save a document as an older version
of RTF (1.8 or earlier)? I have searched and cannot find anything.
or
Is there another application that will read .doc files and can save
them as .rtf files using RTF 1.8 or earlier while retaining the header
and footer text? The problem is we get doc file in and have to save
them as rtf files for importing. These files contain header and
footers and i cannot lose that text. I have tried Word Pad but I lose
the header and footer.
Thanks in advance!
