Change server name

D

Deb

Hi all,

We're running Project Server 2002. We want to change the name of the server
this lives on, but when we do we are not able to get back in to Project
server. It will let us in for about a week after we change the name,
apparently because of some kind of caching. After about a week then we
can't get in. What can we do in Project to get the server name changed?

Thanks for any help in advance,
Deb

ProjectServer communicates with the designated database server using the
entries found in the registry. These entries were written to the registry at
setup and are not dynamic.
Check the HKLM/Software/microsoft/office/10/msproject keys and sub keys
using regedit and look for the old server name in connection strings.
Furthermore, use notepad and open the file pds.wsdl (found in the IIS
Virtual Root folder of your PS installation) and scroll to the end of the
file and edit the <soap:address location entry to show the new name of the
server.
