change the font and background for viewing only?

Can I change the background color and font color for viewing purposes only -
ie, I still want the documents to print black text with no background.

I have visual problems and staring at a white background is hard to do. I
can change the background successfully, but I need to change the font to
something other than black to be easier to see on a black background.. but I
want the text to still print black.

In short, I'm trying to get something like a "linux terminal" feel on-screen
only.

Thanks,
Brian

There should be some helpful options available to you, but in order to
direct you to them you need to specify which version of Word/Office & which
version of Windows you're using. The options & their locations vary a bit
accordingly. [It's always a good idea to include that information whenever
you post a question :)]

If you have Word 2003 or earlier, go to Tools > Options > General and check the
box for "Blue background, white text".

Unfortunately, this feature was removed from Word 2007.
