Change the standard "Publish" field default value to "No"

Hi,

When using Project Server 2007, I know that you can set default values for
Enterprise Custom Fields via the PWA administration area. However, for the
standard built-in fields, does anyone know a way of setting the default
value globally?

For instance, the standard "Publish" field. It appears to be set globally to
a default value of "Yes". We would like to have it set globally a default
value of "No", for any new Tasks that are created. We don't want it reset of
any exisiting Tasks.

Along similar lines, is there then a way of setting the "Publish" field in
our example to "No" on a Project-by-Project basis (for all newly created
Tasks in a selected Project)? I am not sure, but perhaps this might be
possible via an Enterprise Project Template?

Cheers, Wayne

Wayne:

You can certainly set this value for tasks you define in Enterprise
templates, however that doesn't deal with your new task requirement. I think
the best way to enforce that would be using a VBA macro that fires on an
event.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the prompt response to my query. So far, an event driven macro is
also the only way I can think of to do such a thing. So that at least
confirms my suspicions.

I was hoping that there might be something like the "Summary Task View" hack
where you could define a DWORD in the Registry with a default value that
sets the Publish Field to "No". But this is at the Task and not the
application level, so it didn't really make sense to me that there would be
such an option.

Once again, thanks for the helpful feedback. Much appreciated.

Cheers,

Wayne
