Change the timesheet of team from .MPP file

Hi All,

I try to change the timesheet of team in .MPP file, and then republish
assignments with checking "overwrite actuals in the resource's timesheet".

But we got the confusion problem when we change timesheet in this way, the
column WWORK_APPROVAL_STATUS in MSP_WEB_WORK table will be changed the
existing "1" value to "null" value, do you know what's happen? does PM still
need to approval the timesheet change from PWA?

If the members of team change the timesheet go through PWA, the
WWORK_APPROVAL_STATUS of column value should be "1" after PM approve.

What's the different to change timesheet between these two approaches?

Thanks for your help.

If you are manually entering actuals in the Microsoft Project plan and then
republished assigments in the manner you describe, you are simply pushing
the actuals from the project plan to each user's timesheet page in PWA.
These actuals need no approval since you, the project manager, already
entered the actuals manually. When team members enter actuals in their PWA
timesheet, however, these actuals must be approved by the project manager on
the Updates page in PWA and then updated automatically into the actual
Microsoft Project plan. Hope this helps.

Rabbit,

Dale is correct about what is happening here. You need to be aware of
what you as a project manager are doing here. If you publish and
overwrite actuals before accepting team member updates form PWA, you
ware wiping out all their actual hour time entries. This is probably
not what you want. You should make it part of the project manager's
process to first accept all pending updates from PWA>Updates tab, then
modify the plan including any fix to the team members actuals (if they
made some mistakes) and then you can overwrite actuals to make sure
that the Project Plan is reflected exactly the same in PWA as in
Project Professional.
