Hi everyone - I have read the following text in blogs, etc and it makes
perfect sense to me However, my experience has not proven it out and I don't
know if I'm doing something incorrectly or MS has changed something in PS
2003.
Here's what I read should happen when I change tracking methods:
"Only unstarted tasks will use the new method of tracking progress on the
View my tasks page. In-progress tasks will continue to use the former method
of tracking progress until the tasks are completed."
Here's what actually happens when I make a change:
I have changed tracking methods from actuals to % complete and am now
testing to change from % complete back to actuals. each time I have seen
that tasks that are in progress do take on the new tracking method
for example
Task A is 50% complete with 4 hours remaining work (tracking method is set
to % complete)
I change the system as follows:
FROM
Percent of work complete: Resources report the percent of work complete,
between 0 and 100%.
TO
Hours of work done per day or per week: Resources report the hours worked on
each task during each time period.
I republish the assignments and the entire timesheet regardless of whether
tasks are new or in progress is updated to allow the user to enter actuals.
Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any insight into this?
thank you and have a nice day
